Jump on the pageant wagon at Poudre High School April 21, 22, 23 for a hilarious ride with an overwhelmed servant, four devoted lovers, and two determined fathers. Serving with style and flair, Poudre High School Theatre presents the theatrical tradition of Commedia Dell’Arte. Originating in the 17th century, this Italian style of comedy uses over-the-top physical comedy and outrageous characters that will keep audience members of all ages in stitches.
A Servant of Two Masters written by Carlo Goldoni, translated by Dorothy Louise follows a cast of ridiculous characters, each with their own agenda, who cross paths and get mixed
up each others’ lives in a series of hilarious events. There is engagement, love, marriage, sword fighting, mistaken identity and much more in this fast paced, uproariously funny performance. Poudre’s contemporary interpretation of a script written over 200 years ago incorporates the traditional style of Commedia, while integrating a few modern twists resulting in endless amount of hilarity that will make this show unlike anything you’ve ever seen before.
